Ngati Hikitanga Te Paea undertook to go north to meet with our Members who live in the small northern town of Ruakaka along with those who live in the wider area of Whangarei,
The reason this trip was undertaken was to fulfil our obligations to our most Northern Members by bringing them up to date with the claims process and where we are situated in the process, we enlightened our people that without the C.F.R.T. funding and Tumatanui Incorporated of which we are a cluster member, we would never have been able to attend we urged that members in the future will need to come to Horowhenua and other important areas to embrace the importance of our claim By feeling and obsorbing the loss that our ancestors felt when their land was taken by devious means for it is only then our members will understand the importance of Wai 977. We thank our Senior Kuia Jill Russell who organised everything in Ruakaka along with her sister in-law Linda Harrison who helped with the Kai preparation.
We thank Tony and Peter Goodwin for coming up from Auckand They represent the Emily Morgan Whanau, We also thank our solicitor Mark McGhie who spoke and answered questions and explained how the claim system works, it was a pleasure to meet Guy Harrison, his wife Linda and all their whanau and anyone I may have over looked
We look forward to seeing you again hopefully in Levin.
Margaret Morgan Allen.
